 Upgrade to a Modern Family Home  A married couple with kids wanted to completely redo their kitchen and make it much more user friendly while opening up space to create a home computer center/home office. The wife specifically wanted to create a line of sight in order to supervise their children when the kids were on the computer and the kitchen was geared toward the husband because he does 90% of the cooking. Also, the wife's mother lived with them and she did most of the laundry - so the laundry room was upgraded and tailored to her needs as far as lighting and layout.
In order to make it all work, we relocated the entrance to the house so that it now leads into a keeping room, which is between the kitchen/breakfast room and the new laundry room (which was relocated) and the husband's home office. During the remodel, we removed some load bearing walls without changing the appearance of the home.
The end result was a beautiful home, tailored perfectly for this family. Our clients were very happy with the final outcome. |
One of the challenges to this project was that we ended up doing a lot of design and re-design even after we had started on the project - the wishes of these particular clients kept evolving and we worked with them. Also, the family asked that we keep the laundry operational even though we were moving the appliances around during the remodel.
